Stellar J was challenged to build a 250’ free-span bridge, designed to carry 1800’ of 24” pipeline, over the Washougal River without ever touching the river.  By permit, no barges were permitted in the river to assist nor was equipment permitted to be at water’s edge. Stellar J designed a lift sequence using three large cranes, with a total lifting capacity of 1200 tons, to lift portions of the bridge that had been previously cantilevered over the river.  As a result of precision planning, the complete placement of the bridge took only five hours.

The project received an Excellence in Engineering award in 2010.
