Project includes replacing the existing chlorine gas based effluent disinfection system and sulfur dioxide gas dichlorination system with a new system using sodium hypochlorite for disinfection and calcium thiosulfate for dichlorination. Project also includes construction of a concrete containment structure and canopy roof for two 2,500 gallon tanks for sodium hypochlorite and 2,000 gallon tanks for storage of a calcium thiosulfate solution. New tanks will require foundation piles and site civil and asphalt restoration. These improvements will ensure the City’s compliance with it’s existing NPDES permit.
