Black River PS Imp – High Use Engines
The Work of this project is to replace or rehabilitate critical components of three flood control pumps (propeller pumps driven through right-angle gear drives) at the Black River Pump Station (BRPS). The right-angle gear drives and pumps are to be shipped to approved refurbishment shops for disassembly, inspection, and repair of identified and approved components. The diesel engine drivers of two pumps (P2 and P4) are to be replaced with new
Tier 3 diesel engines (low emission), and the horizontal motor drive for the third pump (P1) is
also to be replaced. The new diesel engines for P2 and P4 are to be procured by the Contractor via a sole source agreement between the County and a local supplier. After the reinstallation of the rehabilitated/new equipment, start-up and test each of the three rehabilitated pump/driver systems. Provide new FRP stop logs for pump bay isolation (to replace existing concrete stop
logs), including a new inflatable seal system. Provide a new vertical turbine pump and a manual (unpowered) strainer. Work also includes startup, testing and commissioning.
